Carnelian is a stone of overall inspiration. It can be used to cleanse negativity from other stones. It is sad to increase motivation, and stimulates creativity. Carnelians, a variety of the chalcedony family, has a beautiful color ranging from translucent light orange to dark orange-red. Banded carnelians (Sardonyx) have streaks or bands of white chalcedony inclusions, which make their already eye-catching appearance stand out even more.
Carnelians have been around for centuries! Mentioned in the bible as Sardius (Ex 28:19, 39:10; Rev 4:3, 21:20), Carnelians have been held as precious by the Egyptian Pharaohs, Romans, and Greeks.
Carnelians are all about getting in touch with yourself - your feelings, your desires - and self-confidence. Carnelians give us the permission to let go of things that don't serve us, and move on to what makes us feel good. It encourages us to dig deep inside ourselves and ask questions like: "Are you really happy?". It opens our minds to creativity, fantasy and whimsy, while grounding us so we don't get too carried away.
When carrying a carnelian, you may notice that your perception is sharpened, and your ability to concentrate and focus on tasks is better. It can give us the drive to complete tasks. Some say, carrying a carnelian with a prosperity stone helps to ground your abundance.
